OUR ACTION BEGINS!
On January 30, 2017 HEAL House Board of Directors along with their dedicated volunteers orchestrated the first ever Point in Time Intake in Warren County, Iowa.
A Point in Time Intake is done statewide in Iowa on January 30th where people TAKE ACTION against homelessness. Board members, volunteers, and those with personal stories connected to homelessness tracked through the parks and woods in Warren County. The team spread out among the 573 square miles or 1,480km2 and searched for homeless people.
On this chilly day in January, 2017, 16 people were contacted and an intake form was completed. The intake form is a means to gather information regarding the individual's current situation and evaluate their needs. Once an intake is completed, HEAL House Board of Directors can access the results and provide resources according to the specific needs on the intake form.
TAKE ACTION TO SUPPORT OUR SHELTER
HEAL House has purchased a facility in Warren County, Iowa. We are busy getting the necessary repairs/updates needed to open the doors. We hope to open no later than 9/1/2020. HEAL House is still writing grants, speaking to fundraising groups and working closely with law enforcement and churches to have a perfect picture of how our facility will benefit the lives of Warren County Residents.
